LANDSCAPE PRODUCTION MANAGER

  1. Position description: The Landscape Production Manager must be thoroughly familiar with and able to perform all aspects of landscape, hardscape, and irrigation construction to include: estimating, production, scheduling, customer service, training, etc. The Landscape Production Manager directly oversees Crew Leaders and the installation of landscape, hardscape, and irrigation projects on a daily basis while interfacing with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers. Landscape Production Manager must keep the Department Manager apprised of progress (or lack thereof) on all jobs while coordinating with the Department Manager. The Landscape Production Manager also interfaces with company Sales, Estimating, Human Resources, and Accounting personnel.

  2. Reports to: The Landscape Production Manager reports directly to the CEO, Owner(s), or GM, depending on the structure of the company.

  3. Skill set and educational requirements: The Landscape Production Manager must possess the following skill set and educational background:

A.  Minimum of three years of experience in landscape, hardscape, and irrigation construction.

B.  Have a high school diploma or GED.

C.  Able to supervise up to three crews simultaneously.

D.  Able to effectively train field crew members.

E.  Possess a valid driver’s license and must be insurable on company’s insurance policy.

F.  Have a clean criminal record.

G.  Possess excellent computer skills.

H.  Proficient in or able to learn customer relationship management (CRM) software.

I.   Proficient in both oral and written communications.

J.   Bilingual in Spanish and English.

K.  Able to represent the company in a courteous and professional manner.

  4. Responsibilities:

A.  Continually informs and updates company CEO, Owner(s), or GM as to job progress (or lack thereof).

B.  Continually coordinates with company Crew Leaders as to job progress (or lack thereof).

C.  Oversees the production of up to three jobs simultaneously.

D.  Ensures that jobs are kept on schedule and on budget.

E.  Ensures that all safety procedures are followed and reports any unsafe conditions to supervisors.

F.  Ensures all accidents are properly documented and reported immediately.

G.  Ensures all workers’ compensation insurance claims are properly documented and reported immediately.

H.  Looks for add on sales and converts them into change orders when appropriate.

I.   Ensures all change orders are processed correctly.

J.   Interfaces with subcontractors to ensure timely and accurate completion of their phase of
projects.

K.  Interfaces with suppliers to ensure timely and accurate delivery of job materials.

L.  Ensures that company production standards are met.

M. Ensures that all equipment is operated in a safe and proper manner.

N.  Ensures that all equipment is maintained properly and preventatively maintained (PMd) daily.

O.  Evaluates equipment utilization and recommends future purchases to CEO, Owner(s), or GM.

P.  Ensures that vendor delivery tickets and all paperwork are processed and turned in daily.

Q.  Ensures that job cost reports are properly analyzed and disseminated to Crew Leaders.

R.  Thoroughly understands and complies with company policies, procedures, and SOPs.

S.  Assists in the development and implementation of the production part of company’s strategic plan.

T.  Assists in the development, implementation, and achievement of company’s annual budget goals.

U.  Assists in the development and implementation of the production part of company’s training goals.

V.  Develops training plan and trains field crews.

W. Evaluates performance of Crew Leaders and crew members.

X.  Able to read and install all plans.

Y.  Able to operate a transit.

Z.  Receives and reviews all job daily field reports for accuracy and thoroughness and forwards to Accounting Department.

AA.  Is certified in CPR and First Aid.

BB.  Continuing education requirement: minimum of 15 hours per year.

  5. Salary, bonus, and/or commissions: Commensurate with experience ($42,000 to $48,000 per year).
