LAWN CARE LEAD/MANAGER

  1. Position description: The Lawn Care Lead/Manager must be thoroughly familiar with all aspects of the chemicals that are used by company personnel. He or she also must be able to correctly analyze, diagnose, and treat problems arising from disease, insect presence, improper care, etc. The Lawn Care Manager must keep the CEO, Owner(s), and/or GM apprised of progress (or lack thereof) on all accounts while coordinating with the appropriate company departments and subcontractor services. The Lawn Care Manager also interfaces with company Sales, Estimating, Human Resources, and Accounting personnel.
  2. Reports to: The Lawn Care Lead/Manger reports directly to the CEO, Owner(s), and/or GM depending on the structure of the company.
  3. Skill set and educational requirements: The Lawn Care Lead/Manager is a WORKING Field Manager, when fully trained will possess the following skill set and educational background:
  4. Minimum of three years of experience in fertilization, weed, pest, insect, or mosquito control.
  5. Have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree (preferably in a related field).
  6. Be appropriately certified and licensed by local, state, and federal agencies.
  7. Able to correctly analyze, diagnose, and treat issues relating to fertilization, weed, pest, insect, or mosquito control issues.
  8. Able to coordinate and supervise company departments and subcontractors necessary to attend to fertilization, weed, pest, insect, or mosquito control needs.
  9. Able to effectively train field personnel as to correct methods and techniques.
  10. Able to develop an effective preventative maintenance program for customer base.
  11. Able to implement and schedule the preventative maintenance program for customers.
  12. Knowledgeable re: local, state, and federal regulations.
  13. Knowledgeable re: local, state, and federal agencies and points of contact.
  14. Be a current and active member of local, state, and federal associations in this field.
  15. Hold appropriate local, state, and federal licenses and certifications in this field.
  16. Possess a valid driver’s license and must be insurable on company’s insurance policy.
  17. Have a clean criminal record.
  18. Possess excellent computer skills.
  19. Proficient in or able to learn customer relationship management (CRM) scheduling software.
  20. Proficient in both oral and written communications.
  21. Bilingual in Spanish and English. (Preferred)
  22. Proficient in MS Word and MS Excel.
  23. Proficient in typing and capable of typing 30 WPM with fewer than three mistakes.
  24. Able to represent the company in a courteous and professional manner.
  25. Responsibilities:
  26. Continually informs and updates company CEO, Owner(s), and/or GM regarding service status (or lack thereof).
  27. Continually coordinates with company department heads regarding service status (or lack thereof).
  28. Oversees the work of up to ten company Service Technicians.
  29. Develops a written treatment plan for each customer according to their needs.
  30. Ensures that all servicing is kept on schedule and on budget.
  31. Ensures that all services for customers are invoiced accurately and in a timely manner.
  32. Ensures that all safety procedures are followed and reports any unsafe conditions to appropriate personnel.
  33. Ensures all accidents are properly documented and reported immediately.
  34. Ensures all workers’ compensation insurance claims are properly documented and reported immediately.
  35. Trains company personnel to look for deficiencies and report same to him or her.
  36. Ensures all work orders are processed correctly and in a timely manner.
  37. Interfaces with subcontractors as necessary.
  38. Interfaces with suppliers to ensure timely and accurate delivery of materials.
  39. Interfaces with local, state, and federal agencies as necessary.
  40. Ensures that company production standards are met.
  41. Ensures that all equipment is operated in a safe and proper manner.
  42. Ensures that all equipment is maintained properly and preventatively maintained (PMd) daily.
  43. Evaluates equipment utilization and recommends future purchases to CEO, Owner(s), or GM.
  44. Ensures that vendor delivery tickets and all paperwork are processed and turned in daily.
  45. Ensures that job cost reports are properly analyzed and disseminated to appropriate personnel.
  46. Thoroughly understands and complies with company policies, procedures, and SOPs.
  47. Assists in the development and implementation of the production part of company’s strategic plan.
  48. Assists in the development, implementation, and achievement of company’s annual budget goals.
  49. Assists in the development and implementation of the production part of company’s training goals.
  50. Develops training plan and trains field crews.
  51. Evaluates performance of Service Technicians and helpers.
  52. Receives and reviews all job daily field reports for accuracy and thoroughness and forwards to Accounting Department.
  53. Is certified in CPR and First Aid.
  54. Continuing education requirement: minimum of 10 hours per year.
  55. Salary, bonus, and/or commissions: Commensurate with experience ($35,000 to $42,000 annually).
